We are so excited to be a part of the kick off event for Storytime in the Park this coming Tuesday evening at 6:30pm in Garfield Park. Come hear a Storytime reading of Samson the Baby Pygmy Goat, meet 4 of Parkside Farm’s adorable pygmy goats, take home some free books and enjoy some delicious ice cream! A perfect family-friendly event, can’t wait to see you there 🐐📚🌳

We are so excited to be a part of the kick off event for Storytime in the Park this coming Tuesday evening at 6:30pm in Garfield Park. This week feels like a race against time to get the rest of the crops planted. So grateful to some very helpful hands today! Thank you Joy, Amy and Autumn for helping get all the pumpkins planted, 12+ varieties this year and more flowers planted. We also got a good start on our corn planting. This year we will have two different kinds of sweet corn available along with decorative glass corn. A couple of progress photos of all the flower plants out front! It’s been a very wet month and though it feels like everything is behind compared to last year, we should have snapdragons, some sunflowers and potentially dahlias available in a few weeks! Praying for peonies to be available this coming week as well for bouquets.

On this beautiful Memorial Day, I’m so encouraged checking on all of the growth around the farm. We have potatoes and tomatoes growing well already! The honeybee hives appear to be doing very well and thriving. Will do a more in depth hive inspection soon. So many flowers coming in already, zinnias, snapdragons, cosmos, ranunculus, dahlias and so much more. This week I plan to get the rest of the crops in which will include more vegetables, many different pumpkin and squash varieties, decorative and sweet corn. May I ever be reminded it is only the Lord who causes all things to grow and to flourish in His time. Though I plant, nurture and feed the seed, without Him nothing would bear fruit.

Our sweet Pina Colada passed away tragically and it gutted me, it still does to this day. I keep myself from thinking back too much because her loss still brings me to tears and so much grief. I continue to be blown away how the Lord has spread news of the farm literally far and wide. Yesterday, to my surprise @fox17online and @wcsgradio shared details of the Spring Open House! Many thanks! Since the news interview with @wzzm13 last week I’ve heard from multiple people out of state who saw the story and reached out for more information and to visit the farm. Truly amazing.

If you have not registered, we ask at this time for you not to attend to allow room for everyone who has registered. We will open up registration for the fall festival soon and would love to see anyone who didn’t register for this event to register and attend in the fall. If you’ve registered, please bring layers for the cooler temps today, wear boots and long pants and pack an umbrella just in case. We look forward to seeing you today. We anticipate lots of you today so please be patient as we work to accommodate parking and rotate everyone through the activities 😃

I prayed so hard last night with the tornadoes so close to us. We are continuing to pray for improved weather tomorrow. We have so many of you registered for the Spring Open House! Please come with appropriate clothing in mind. It’s supposed to be cooler with wind gusts. Recommend long pants, closed toed shoes or boots and layers. Put an umbrella in the car just in case. We look forward to seeing you all tomorrow!

I am very proud of this being our 4th FREE, open to the public event. It’s very important to me to provide something accessible for the local communities. It was a very productive Monday at the farm. Thank you to the many helping hands who help make the farm go round. Airbnb farmhouse got cleaned and lawns got mowed. Had a new helper today and we got the front flower bed in and got my seedlings planted. Miss Darci the beekeeper came to inspect the new hives as well. We found both queens and things look really good so far. Miss Darci will be giving honeybee education demonstrations at the upcoming Spring Open House with our new hives 🐝

Moved the honeybees into their new homes. They were not too pleased but I think they will adjust well. I was happy to see several bees with pollen balls on their legs which means they’re out working and collecting already after picking them up late last night. If you notice I had some tag along on my back for a while 😅😂🐝

We had an amazing time at Covenant of the Great Lakes today visiting at the Assisted Living building and Healthcare building with all the residents and staff. We had an amazing time at Covenant of the Great Lakes today visiting at the Assisted Living building and Healthcare building with all the residents and staff. Had an amazing time at the summer resource fair coordinated by Kentwood Elementary Schools at @kentdistrictlibrary Kentwood Branch! I’m so glad I thought to bring the little farm market, it was very popular with the kids. I also had a Taste, Smell and Touch educational display with items from our Farm Market. Families were able to learn about honey collecting and syrup making, smell goat milk soaps and try goat milk lotions 🐐

Just a friendly PSA that theft is not cool! The farm market and farm has cameras and I will report theft to authorities. I’m still feeling bummed after two people came yesterday and took items without paying for them. Farmers work too hard to deal with theft. Also a reminder that paying a partial amount for items clearly marked is also theft. I’m grateful that 99% of my customers are fair and honest but it’s the 1% that can often suck the joy out of your hard work.
